Johannesburg, South Africa — Day one of The Cannabis Expo kicked off today at the Sandton Convention Centre with overwhelming enthusiasm from attendees, exhibitors, and industry stakeholders. The event, which runs until Sunday, welcomed a huge crowd on opening day and showcased the full spectrum of the cannabis industry, with over 100 exhibitors from across South Africa and abroad.

The energy was palpable as guests explored cutting-edge products, technologies, and services shaping the cannabis landscape—from cultivation and extraction to medicinal products and retail innovation.

Highlighting the importance of cannabis in South Africa’s economic and agricultural development, MEC Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, Member of the Executive Council for Agriculture and Rural Development, delivered a powerful keynote address. MEC Ramokgopa underscored cannabis as a viable business opportunity and a key player in the future of rural economic growth and job creation.
“The cannabis industry presents a remarkable opportunity for inclusive growth and innovation. We are committed to supporting a regulatory environment that enables this sector to thrive,” said Silas Howarth Founder and Event Organiser.
Beyond the exhibition floor, The Freedom Festival brought the vibe with a stellar lineup of local DJs, turning the event into a celebration of culture, music, and community. The ever-popular Speedrolling Competition drew large crowds, adding excitement and entertainment to the day’s agenda.

With a full weekend of activities planned, organisers are expecting record attendance. Doors are open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM until Sunday.
